    The initial attack done with a can? Talk about wasted effort! And yes, 750 gallons in the booster tank would knock that down easily, but establishing a supply is always prudent. “May I have water, PLEASE!”…Yeah, a minute 20 seconds to deliver water is a bit long. Engine arrived at 2:30 on the video, water in the line about 3:50. Good knockdown once they get inside with the line.

    First, I don’t like helmet cams.
    Secondly, don’t you bring your hose w/ you when you make entry? They opened that door up looked around and then went and got the hose. Once they opened that door, it took off on them.

      Scott if you listen to the dialogue you would have heard them asking where the engine was. The first in company was the truck (hence the can, K-12, and the asking of where the engine was). Also you can see the truck to the right and side when the engine pulls up.

    if you listen the chief says “where is the engine?” . I am assuming they are on a ladder company with no water. They gave it a shot with the can, did what they could. Im a fan of going in where we can find it though, just take the line in the door and put water on the fire, that pushing fire bull is bull, unless you are using a fog

    Maybe someone can shed some light on this one, first you arrive at a fire and I’m assuming on some type of apparatus because there was a saw, water can, and halligan but it appeared a hose wasn’t pulled until the door is opened and the fire is given a big “push” to get bigger until a hose is pulled, oops looks like the water can isn’t going to do it.
    Now I like firefighting but if I have 750 gallons of water I don’t want to give the fire a head start before I start, I usually want to stop it before it does any more damage. Oh by the way I do like helmet cams!

    “Where the hell is the engine”, “get in there with the can”, things not to say after you realize you’ve opened up without a charged line in place. My god what do they teach in that state?


    The Truck in that town is a dry ‘Scope. Hence the lack of a handline. Yeah, you might want to find the engine before you open it up.
    Classic though: “Where the hell’s the Engine Company?”

    Videos are great training tools, Please use them as such. This Video can be used as a great company level drill. Sit with your crew and talk about it. What would you or your company do… 1st in Truck with No water. 1st due Engine and so forth.

    Stop throwing stones because every one of you live in glass houses. Just remember its not a matter of if, It’s a matter of WHEN your glass house will be posted on and I bet you wouldn’t be happy if I was the one throwing stones at your house.

    I get so sick of this bullshit risk vs reward. Ever been to a construction trailer where the boss slept in the trailer… I Have. You just never know where a person may be sleeping…. Remember If We don’t go in and get them NOBODY Will.

      Yes, risk vs benefit…the way they attacked this fire it surely wouldn’t have benefited the victim(s) chances of survival. Notice the growth and intensity of the fire once they opened that door and all they had was a pump can. If they would have taken the time to await a hand line, the victim(s) would have had a better chance. Once they got a hand line, and went to the farthest door, the whole trailer was charged with THICK BLACK smoke that appeared to be pushing pretty good to me. Chances of survival slim. Having that trailer flash with 2-3 FF’s in there doesn’t outweigh the risk.

      Not one that was Pad Locked Shut on the outside. It’s called size up. This is why kill and burn firefighters, just so we can make an interior attack on a trailer fire. Our responsability is to mitigate the situation as quickly and effeciently as possible, if that means hitting it from the outside then that is what we do. If it means pushing in through the front door to protect the stairs for a search team,then thats what we do.

    No, I didn’t realize that was a truck crew only. If that was the case, then they shouldn’t have opened it up until a hoseline was at the door and ready.

    ANybody notice the “Tic…Tic….Tic” sounds throughout the video?? That low battery alarm in a SCott SCBA for the 2 9 vlt batteries for the speakers in the pass alarm. Not good.
    SPeaking of TIC…any TIC in the Ladder? If boss is sleepin in the trailer maybe you could see him with a TIC.
    Overall not that bad a job…….shows all you quint haters that water is a good thing at a fire…duh

    Yako Bazinowitskioski: A quint is not the solution to any problem…getting a fire engine to the scene is much more prudent than telling 3 guys to act as the ov,attack,overhaul,search,forcible entry team.

    The risk vs benefit is a way to sell books and seminars. Yes we all know that what we do (paid or volunteer) is dangerous. Sometimes we have to go and do stuff that doesn’t exactly make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside but as others have said, who else will do it? Do we follow the european model and just dump water in from the outside? Last time I checked people from overseas have FF’s from the United States come and teach classes and courses. When was the last time a firefighter from london or the UK came over here and taught us how to get in and kick the snot out of a fire? Not knocking our brothers overseas at all, they do what they are trained to do and they do it well we just are a completely different fire service.
