Watch this: Did anyone call the fire department? Uh, what’s that thing in your hand?

Do you want to sell a rig? Click HERE to find out how with SellFireTrucks.com.

You know, I really don’t have much to say about this video other than, according to the caption, it was recorded on a cell phone Monday in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Watching this makes me feel like Lewis Black when he has one of those his head might explode moments. Thank you Richard Schaffer for alerting me to this video. I think.

Not sure why I am wasting my time, but herewhere goes.

Did you mean to say the FD and PD WERE called, not where called?

Secondly, I realize you were busy killing nerve endings in your eardrums with that crap that was on the radio, but it was rather obvious they had been because there was a SIREN sounding. at :16 seconds there was a siren.

Maybe I need to explain. Sirens are audible devices on emergency vehicles that are used when responding to an emergency, such as a house fire as we see here. (And yes, that large column of black smoke does indicate a FIRE. Maybe you’ve heard the saying: Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. There is a lot of truth in that saying, go figure.)

So whether she’s asking herself or the onlookers, it is a patently stupid question. And if asking that question, it would make far more sense to call just to make sure. Because that’s another neat thing firemen like: numerous calls means it is actually a fire, instead of 1 call of a possible structure fire. It helps with our sizeup. Then again, if you don’t know what sirens mean, it is beyond hope to explain a sizeup.

In any case, I hope you are not registered to vote.

I suppose I didn’t explain this well enough. The comment above was taken from the youtube video. I assume it was posted there by the person who uploaded the video. It wasn’t me, I was only sharing it here. Your response would be better placed on Youtube under that comment, not to me.

we have a saying here; “if it wasn’t for stupid people, we’d be out of business”

  • OldCityCaptain

We are witnessing the “dumbing down of America!!!!” The instructions on that “camera phone / smart phone” will tell you how to operate the numerical keypad. You should press the following numbers….911, then hit the send button! When the person answers the phone, tell them the type of emergency, where it is, and your name. Then, stay out of the way!!!!

    LOL!

“Did anybody call the fire department?” No, she wasn’t asking herself, she was talking to the bicyclists and joggers who were travelling along side of here as she was drviing away.

“Are there any kids in there?” So what, you can film their burning bodies?

Whose pulliing up to the scene with the Powercall?

Did anyone call the fire department?

Blonde Caller: There is a house on fire!
FD: Ok ma’am, tell us how to get there.
Blonde caller: D’uh, Big Red Truck

  • TURK 182

If she would have used her phone to call 911 then we wouldn’t have that great video, where are you priorities people?!?!? Besides, the power call on E708 rolling in is a dead giveaway that someone had called.

  • Captain Retired NJ

Wow! Kinda’ reminds you of the chowder heads in Washington D.C.

As the wise and all knowing Yoda would say: “Fix stupid you can’t.”

  • ForReal2Day

If she called 911 and the dispatcher gave her a obnoxious “yeah we got 50 calls already”, do you think she would ever call 911 again? At least she showed some concern instead of just driving by.

How many PhDs work in the fire service? 2? 3?
