A fire this morning has hevily damaged Fire Station #2 in Danville, Alabama (Morgan County).

Preston Benson, WHNT-TV:

The fire started about 7 a.m.  Officials say no one was at the station at the time.  Several departments responded to help put out the flames, and they’re still working on it.  They’re bringing in water, and had to run a water line to a hydrant about a mile away.

At least one ambulance inside the station was destroyed.  It’s unclear how many other vehicles were inside – firefighters say they’ll be able to get a better idea once the fire is out.

Sarah Broadway, WAFF-TV:

The fire started shortly after 6:30 a.m. Friday. Several agencies were called in to bring tanker trucks and fire trucks to help put out the fire.

Authorities believe no one was inside at the time of the fire. No injuries have been reported.

It's always sad when people lose their things to fire, but it just seems doubly tragic when it's a fire department itself.  Hopefully these guys can recover quickly and get back to the business of protecting others.

That fire looks like it might have started in the ambulance.  An investigation needs to be conducted to make sure the Firefighters did nothing untoward…

Hate to see that happen to anyone…apparatus and the building.  Best wishes for them to get back into business.
