This is video shot Tuesday afternoon at the Chatham Hill Apartments in Sprinfield, Illinois. The video is from 2014 zzz. Thanks to @dbljack for sending it our way.

Laren Leone-Cross, State Journal-Register:

An elderly woman found unresponsive but breathing after a fire broke out in her residence at Springfield’s Chatham Hills Apartments was taken by ambulance to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters entered the building, 13 Candlewood Drive, to find heavy smoke in the hallways and one of the apartments on fire, said Springfield Fire Department Division Chief Mark Hart.

It took fire crews about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. Two units sustained heavy fire and smoke damage, Hart said, and the other six had enough smoke damage to displace residents.

The whole time i was wondering why there were no ladders thrown or why they weren't setting the truck up, and then the culprit! A ladder truck with a pump!!! What a terrible idea to a pull a line from a truck company on a townhouse fire!

While the fire was blowing out the windows, I thought someone might bring another handline and stop the auto-exposure up the side of the building.

spraying water in windows is an effective and safe method……How that’s working out for ya? Why is it so difficult to be firefighters? Ladder buildings, have a sense of purpose
