This is a fire around 10:30 last night in the 20500 block of Clarice Avenue, in an unincorporated portion of Lake County, Illinois. Larry Shapiro (ShapPhoto) says his video starts about 15 minutes after the initial alarm was dispatched. Besides the weather, firefighters dealt with water, gas and electric issues. It seemed like a real nightmare on Clarice Avenue/

Peter Nickeas, Chicago Tribune:

The first hydrant that an engine hooked up to was broken and the next one was 800 feet away, (Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District Chief Fred) Kruger said.

Kruger said the lack of water early on caused a “significant delay” in battling the fire.

Aside from encountering water problems, overhead power lines came down while firefighters were working and then a gas meter caught fire.
