Howard Sheppard, WPMT-TV:

A roof collapse at a Mifflin County volunteer fire station. It happened at about 4:35 pm Monday at the Reedsville Fire Company along the 100 block of Main Street in Reedsville.

Chief Daniel Aumiller says a crew was pulling out of the station on a fire call when a door on the pumper engine opened, and slammed into a support beam. Chief Aumiller says the roof fell upon two pieces of equipment parked inside. Fortunately no one was injured.

Lauren Kershner, Lewistown Sentinel:

“The engine had just pulled out and the compartment door was down,” (Lt. Matt) Yohn said. “We believe that when the engine went over the grate in front of the door, the compartment door came up and hit the front beam, which caused the ripple effect of the whole collapse.”

He continued to say the compartment door is spring-loaded and when the front beam collapsed ,the center beam for the structure also collapsed at the middle. The engine and tanker were leaving for the fire and the engine had already been out of the building at the time of the collapse. Inside was the driver of the tanker truck, who after feeling the shaking was able to leave the tanker and the building without sustaining any injuries.

WHP-TV:

“They put it in drive, started to pull out. As it came across our drain there was a bump there and the compartment door popped open, hit the support pillar and brought everything down,” according to Reedsville Fire Chief Dan Aumiller.
Only one firefighter was inside the building when it collapsed and luckily he was not injured.
