At the beginning of the video above by Ricky Mollenkopf you see police officers and firefighters exiting a burning home around 1:00 this morning (Friday) at 774 East Street Rensselaer, New York. According to news reports, the first arriving firefighters and cops rescued an elderly disabled woman from the first floor as power lines were arcing and sparking above the entrance. One news report has the rescue occurring at 774 and another says the woman was found next door at 772 which also burned. The fire went to two-alarms.
According to Assistant Chief Phil Smith, firefighters were made known of a elderly woman who was inside the building but was semi-disabled and needed assistance with moving.
The woman was eventually found on the first floor of the single-family home and taken out by two firefighters and three police officers.
Those involved in the rescue were Firefighters William Brookings and Jason Gibbins, as well as Sgt. Michael Deso, and Patrolmen James Hannigan and Zack Bordeau.
