Helmet-cam video: House fire with exposures in Highland Park, MI

Looks like Scott Ziegler has a few more shifts in him before wrapping up his career at Highland Park, Michigan. This is from a fire on Wednesday and Scott had some help on the video end. The Fire Cam products mentioned below by Scott can be found at booth 1107 at FDIC. Here’s Scott’s description:

This fire was recorded with 2 Firecam 1080’s and one Firecam Mini. We had 3 ride alongs with us who brought their own cameras.

I spotted this one from the firehouse while finishing up our back yard fire pit. We arrived to a well involved vacant dwelling with occupied dwellings on the B and D side, with the B side being very close. We pulled our 2 attack lines and immediately hit the closest exposure with tank water then one line went to the D side and the other went through the front door for the 1st floor knock down. The bulk of the fire was on the first floor. Myself and 2 other FFs then took the 2nd line to the second floor. There wasnt much fire on the second floor, just some extension in the walls, but there was a lot of smoke. The house threw us off a little and we were looking for attic stairs and there ended up not being any. Just a closet with steps that led to nothing. We were able to stop the fire before it got into the attic.
No injuries were reported at this fire. Both exposure homes were spared, barring some minor siding damage to the B side house. The cameras can be purchased at Firevideo.net
