Video & radio traffic: Multiple homes burning in Buffalo, NY

Video and radio traffic above from Don Murtha (murthad02) and video below from Lloyd Mitchell at a multi-alarm fire Friday afternoon that destroyed or damaged four homes on Dupont Street in Buffalo, New York.

Here’s part of Don’s description of the fire:

Engine 21 enroute to Dupont & Woodlawn reports smoke showing from Quarters. Upon arrival on scene E-21 has 3 – 2.5 story dwellings well involved and requests Balance of 2nd alarm. Defensive attack is started for 82, 84, & 86 Dupont. B-56 reports a 4th house now involved and has an additional 2 Engines & another FAST to scene. Crews are pulled out of exposure #4 due to fire load

WIVB-TV:

Firefighters were called to a two-alarm fire on DuPont Street, near Woodlawn Avenue, around 1 p.m. By 2:20 p.m. the situation was deemed under control.

Fire crews say the blaze began at 84 DuPont, which the tenants had just moved out of on Thursday. Arson investigators were on the scene for hours, but have not yet determined what caused the fire.

Four structures were involved in the fire, at 82, 84, 86 and 88 DuPont Street. The stiff wind quickly spread the flames from one house to another and sent heavy smoke billowing into the air. Three of the homes were destroyed and a fourth was damaged by the flames.
