The fire department says the first crews on scene were met with heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the house located in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue. As more firefighters arrived on scene, they discovered a woman was trapped in a room on the second floor. Firefighters used a ladder truck to rescue her and two cats through a window.
