A Fort Meyers, Florida firefighter is suing the city over discrimination claiming the department refuses to promote him because he has only one eye. Bill Miller was hired six-years-ago by the department even though he lost an eye as a child.

WZVN-TV:

Miller lost his eye to cancer when he was 5-years-old, and he says starting in 2010, the department started treating him differently.

Miller’s attorney argues that the chief is using national fire guidelines as an excuse to avoid promoting Miller.

“I just want a chance to compete. If those guys are better, let them win, but I want a chance to get in there,” said Miller.

There’s been no comment by city officials.
