WMAQ-TV:

A group of firefighters who were suspended for refusing to remove patriotic stickers from their helmets and lockers can return to work and can keep their American flag stickers posted, Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh said Wednesday.

Other stickers beyond the flags will be reviewed, Bronaugh said.

The four suburban Chicago firefighters claimed they were ordered to go home for refusing to remove stickers of American flags after Bronaugh implemented a ban on all stickers.

WGN-TV:

Maywood Fire Chief Craig Bronaugh had issued a mandate for the removal of the images but Wednesday he said, “after review i made a decision to put department issued flags on every locker and in every locker room.”

To Jesus Aguire, an Army Staff Sgt with the National Guard who served two tours in Iraq, it’s more than just a sticker.

“It feels wrong,” he said. “I was offended that they would want me to do something like that.”
