Albuquerque Fire Department Chief David Downey says it isn’t fair to yet call it a “fight” and instead refers to what happened between two firefighters at a recent crash scene as a “physical altercation”. I am not sure what the difference is, but either way Chief Downey is prepared to call the incident “a disgrace” and confirms it’s under investigation by his department.

Regina Ruiz, KOAT-TV:

Albuquerque Fire Department Chief David Downey said recently two firefighters got into a physical altercation at the scene of a rollover accident.

“It’s bad. I can’t sugarcoat it. It’s bad,” Downey said. “It’s embarrassing and unprofessional. I can’t say anything else about it. It’s not a behavior we would ever condone.”

Right now, Downey said an investigation by AFD will find out what sparked the altercation, and if firefighters got into it before the people injured in the rollover were treated.

“If all of the patient care had not been done and patient care was compromised, that makes a bad situation worse,” Downey said.
