Video above from our friend Vito Maggiolo. It was taken during a two-alarm fire last (Tuesday) night in Northeast Washington, DC. Here’s Vito’s write-up at DCFD.com where you will find still images from the fire:

Bitter cold temperatures and raging flames were a tough combination for DC firefighters as they battled a two alarm blaze in Northeast late Tuesday night, November 18th.

The fire broke not long after 11 PM in a two story apartment building under renovation at 208 T Street NE.

A working fire dispatch was sounded as heavy smoke oozed from the structure, where fire was burning within the walls on both floors. Eventually, flames engulfed the cockloft and broke through the roof.

Confronted with exposure problems, command requested a second alarm. Despite adverse conditions, firefighters were able to maintain an interior attack, successfully protecting the adjacent, attached similar type apartment building and eventually beating down the fire.

Searches of the structure proved negative. The canteen and rehab units of the Friendship Fire Association both responded to the scene and provided comfort in the frigid weather.
