Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department Ambulance 811 (Branchville VFD) was carjacked early this (Sunday) evening by a man who sped off in the ambulance and crashed into 11 vehicles, killing one person. 

It started on the Capital Beltway between I-95 and Route 1 when the ambulance crew stopped to assist a vehicle that had run off the road. The man with that vehicle attacked the crew and took the rig. The ambulance ended up overturned in front of Joe’s Crab Shack at Greenbelt Road and 62nd Avenue. Three people were transported from the crash scene, including one that was a trauma code who was pronounced dead at the hospital.

One person has died after a stolen ambulance crashed in Prince George’s County Sunday evening. The stolen ambulance overturned at Greenbelt Road and 62nd Avenue in Greenbelt, fire officials said. Two people were taken to the hospital following the accident and one person was taken into custody, Prince George’s County Police said.

The ambulance was stolen just before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, fire officials said. The crew was kicked out of the vehicle and it was taken, officials said. The ambulance belonged to the Branchville Volunteer Fire Department. Two volunteers were assaulted during the ambulance theft, but both are fine, officials said.
