Someone called 911 at 3:58 p.m. Sunday to report the fire at the intersection of West LaFayette and Midland avenues. There were reports of heavy smoke and flames. Shortly after firefighters arrived and entered the home, firefighters were ordered to evacuate the second floor. Firefighters continued to battle the fire from outside the two-story, wood-framed house.
