Pre-arrival video: Apartment building used as homeless shelter burns in PA

Pre-arrival video from willie Jackson of an apartment fire yesterday (Thursday) at Liberty Street and Park Avenue in Uniontown, Pennsylvania (Fayette County). It appears the first arriving pumper is driver only with other firefighters responding to the scene. The neighbor described it as “He’s riding John Wayne … he got no crew.” Another neighbor reports to firefighters that someone is trapped. It’s unclear from the video if that was actually the case.

Steve Ferris, Herald Standard:

The fire at the two-story building was reported at 6:28 p.m. and was “quit well involved” when fire fighters arrived, said Uniontown Fire Chief Buck Griffith.

Flames burned through the roof in several places and the entire building was heavily damaged, Griffith said.

State police fire marshals were called to determine the cause of the fire, he said.
