UPDATE
Gordon Block, Watertown Daily Times:
It was too close of a call Sunday afternoon for Gouverneur Fire Chief Thomas J. Conklin, as a demolition derby car went over a concrete wall, onto a nearby stage and into one of his men.
The firefighter wasn’t injured, he said, but the incident prompted a review of how the department operates at the derby at the Gouverneur & St. Lawrence County Fair.
“It won’t happen again,” he said. “We won’t put our members in that kind of situation again.”

Video posted by Granger Watson of an incident yesterday (Sunday) at the Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fair in Gouverneur, New York. So far, I have not found any news about the firefighters being struck at the demolition derby. These are members of the Gouverneur Fire Department and according to the description with the video, “Luckily it wasn’t as bad as it looked”.
Thanks to reader Issac McDonald for sending along this video.
