Another complaint about firefighters sleeping on the job, their shifts, grocery runs & the gym
Matthew Stephen Barber of Las Vegas, Nevada has a complaint about his local firefighters. He went public with it on his Facebook page on Monday and it’s attracting a bit of an audience on social media. About a dozen readers have sent it to me over the last two days.
In short, Mr. Barber starts out by showing a picture of a Las Vegas fire truck stopped in a parking lot. His complaints are what you hear a lot these days:
- Firefighters make too much
- They get to go to the gym on the job
- They get to sleep on the job
- They drive the big fire truck to the grocery store
- They only work half the time
But Matthew Barber adds a new one in his additional comments — “… the union and OSHA keeps them out of burning buildings …” Interesting.
There are a lot of firefighters upset by this post, but I really like how one Las Vegas firefighter handled it. He invited Mr. Barber to spend a shift with Las Vegas firefighters in an effort to show him a different perspective. Good move. Barber, says he is up for it. Good for him.
