Helmet-cam video of Stockton, CA house fire with report of children trapped

Multiple helmet-cam videos from StocktonFireHistory at a house fire Saturday on Mary Avenue where neighbors believed seven children were still in the house. That turned out not to be the case.

Here’s the description with the video:

Engine 5 ‘A’ was first on scene of this house fire in the area of Mary Ave in South Stockton, on February 6th, 2016. This video shows crews getting a report that 7 children were still inside. As Engine 5 fought the flames, Truck 2 conducted a primary search with their crew and came up negative. The children were thankfully not home at the time. No injuries to firefighters or civilians.

This video includes radio traffic, which is edited to coincide with the events in the video. Multiple videos were edited together, and the ‘fire clock’ may not be consistent with the clock of the video.

This video also includes a vertical ventilation on a roof that has already self-ventilated. Yes, we understand that fact. The Vent Group was under the belief (as everyone on the fireground was), that there were 7 children trapped inside the structure fire. Adding another ventilation hole betters visibility and survivability in the structure, and helps smoke and poisonous gases leave the structure. This crew performed vertical ventilation efficiently and safely.

We thank you for your views, support, feedback, and comments. Comments that contain profanity, incite controversy, or are intended to ‘troll’ will be deleted. This video is intended to educate the public on what Stockton Firefighters must encounter, not host a platform for people to argue about personal issues or the fire service. Thank you. We are proud to serve and protect the citizens and City of Stockton, CA.

CORRECTION: In the beginning of the video, Engine 3 turns around in front of Truck 2- not Engine 5. Engine 5 is in front of the structure with lines off, Engine 3 completes a Fire to Hydrant supplyline.
