A mayor lets Ohio Municipal League have it over fighting cancer presumption bill
After we ran the WEWS-TV story by Sarah Buduson that featured Susan Cave, the executive director of the Ohio Municipal League, the woman who couldn’t be bothered to explain why OML opposes a cancer presumption law for firefighters, many STATter911 readers said they sent Ms. Cave emails and letters.
Thanks to Firehouses of Ohio and Brent Bronner, we know one of the strongly worded letters came from Mayor David Smith of the Village of Bridgeport. Bridgeport is a member of OML and David Smith also happens to be a firefighter (read the letter below).
It’s going to take a lot more than the mayor of a small town to get OML to reconsider its position. If OML, as WEWS-TV reports, provides the main opposition to the bill, it probably wouldn’t hurt to let the people Susan Cave reports to know about your dissatisfaction with their position and Cave’s refusal to properly discuss the issue.
