No one was seriously hurt after two apartment buildings caught fire Wednesday morning, but there was a close call.
West Shore Regional police said Officer Christopher Conroy and Detective John Friel responded to the 100 block of Bosler Avenue and found a resident standing on a third-floor window ledge to avoid the rapidly spreading flames.
The officers and a passerby found a ladder at a nearby home and threw it to the porch roof, and Friel then climbed the ladder and lifted it to the third floor window to rescue the man.
