According to a spokesperson for the Hornblower, it is too early to say what caused the crash. To say the problem as a mechanical error is pure speculation at this point he said.
The spokesperson declined to go on-camera for CBS News 8, but said the female captain is a seasoned captain and “reacted in an amazing way.”
The Adventure Hornblower struck the seawall off North Harbor Drive near West Broadway shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday, according to the Port of San Diego.
