EARLIER

WBFF-TV/FOX45:

A man wearing some sort of animal “onesie” threatening to “blow-up” WBFF-TV in Baltimore was shot by police Monday outside of the station.

Three loud “shots” were heard and the man was seen lying in the street. Baltimore Police spokesman T.J. Smith said the suspect — only described as a white man in his 20s — walked toward officers refusing to follow their orders. Smith said the man refused to take his hands out of his pockets when a counter sniper shot the suspect. Smith said he is still alive.

“Someone came into the front of the building and they apparently said that they had some information they wanted to get on the air,” FOX45 News Director Mike Tomko told reporters. “I came down at one point not knowing the person was in the lobby, near the vestibule area. He talked to me and was wearing what appears to be a full body white panda suit, surgical mask and sunglasses. He had a flash drive, said he had information he wanted to get on the air. He compared it to the information found in the Panama Papers. I told him, ‘I can’t let you in, you’re going to have to leave the flash drive here and slide it through the opening.’ He wouldn’t do that. Apparently he had made some threats before.”

WRC-TV/NBC4:

A suspect who was shot outside the Fox45 TV station in Baltimore Thursday afternoon is wounded and lying outside the building as bomb squads work to determine whether the man still poses a threat, police said.

The man, who appears to be in his 20s, entered the building about 1 p.m. and allegedly made a threat to blow up the building, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

The Baltimore Sun:

A man who walked into a Baltimore television station wearing an animal jumpsuit and what police said was a “surgical-style mask” was shot by police Thursday afternoon.

Police spokesman T.J. Smith said officers were called around 1:20 p.m. about a person in the lobby wearing “some sort of outfit,” and displayed wires and other things in his jacket that looked like an explosive.

A vehicle was also set on fire with a rag inside the gas tank, Smith said.

WUSA9.com:

At this time, police can not say if the man actually has a bomb strapped to his chest.

Police say the suspect still has a hand in his pocket and remains a threat to the public. Until they can give the all-clear, police are using a robot to interact with the man.

A vehicle was set on fire outside the station before the bomb threat was made, police say.

Police have described the suspect as a white male in his 20s, but they have not confirmed his identity.
