The Paulding County (GA) Sheriff’s Officer arrest 28-year-old Zachary Paulk for stealing a rescue vehicle for Paulding County Fire & Rescue Station #3 around 10:30 this (Monday) morning. It happened while the on-duty crew was away from the firehouse for training. Paulk left the firehouse with the vehicle by busting through a bay door.
Then he drove the vehicle down Mount Tabor Road, hitting several mailboxes along the way.
The rescue vehicle eventually crashed with a red Ford F150 in the 2600 block of Bobo Road. Paulk ran to a nearby house where he was caught shortly after.
Deputies say Paulk was just days out of the county jail.
He was apparently hallucinating about an attack with either guns or arrows.
“The young man who came out of the fire rescue truck started screaming about, ‘He’s got a gun. He’s got a gun. He’s trying to shoot me,'” neighbor William Maloney said.
