No survivors reported in Texas hot air balloon crash with 16 on board

A hot air balloon carrying at least 16 people crashed into a pasture near Lockhart, Texas, after catching fire in flight, according to the Federal Aviation Administration Saturday. Caldwell County sheriff’s officials said there were no survivors.

The accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. near Jolly Road north of Cistern Road, which is in the Maxwell, Texas area.

A hot air balloon with at least 16 people aboard caught fire and crashed in Lockhart, Texas, on Saturday morning, the Associated Press reported, citing federal officials.

The hot air balloon crashed into a pasture around 8:40 a.m., Lynn Lunsford with the Federal Aviation Administration told AP in a statement.

It was not immediately known if there were any injuries or deaths.
