The driver of an SUV was killed this (Friday) morning after the vehicle hit a gasoline tanker that was refueling tanks at Mickey’s Convenience Store in Killeen, Texas.

Racheal Riley, KDHNews.com:

The preliminary investigation found the fuel tanker was refueling the gas pumps when an SUV hit the tanker, causing a fire and explosion, police said. The fire caused major damage to the convenience store, a Killeen fire truck and six additional vehicles. The name of the individual who was killed has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The fire truck that was destroyed was on its way to a trailer fire when firefighters saw people pulling the driver out of the gas tanker and stopped to assist, Killeen Interim Fire Chief Kenneth Hawthorne said, adding that leaking fuel started the firetruck fire.

“Fortunately, it blew up and out,” and no one was injured, Hawthorne said.
