Homeowner beats firefighter with flashlight at Tulsa, OK fire

KJRH-TV:

Police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a firefighter responding to a house fire in north Tulsa.

Firefighters responded to a call near 2500 N. Kingston Avenue at about 11:10 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, police said the firemen tried to prevent people from reentering a burning building, and that’s when one man assaulted a firefighter.

Police said Dale Parsons, 48, struck a firefighter with a large flashlight repeatedly and knocked him down while Parsons tried to go back into the building. Firefighters subdued him until police could arrive.

Paramedics checked out the firefighter at the scene and released him. Police said he suffered several cuts on his head, but he’s okay.

KRMG Radio:

“Those firemen were able to hold that individual down until the Tulsa Police Department arrived and took (Parsons) into custody,” Tulsa Police Captain Eric Nelson said.

KRMG asked why Parsons would assault the fireman.

“He was not really cooperative with us. I don’t know what his motive was.”

We do know meth and drug paraphernalia were found inside the home, after the fire was put out.
