Multiple elementary school children killed in Tennessee bus crash

Local TV is reporting six dead following a school striking a tree in Chattanooga, Tennessee this (Monday) afternoon. At 6:14 p.m. ET the Chattanooga Fire Department confirmed multiple fatalities.

Multiple children are dead and at least 23 have been taken to the hospital after a school bus crashed into a tree Monday afternoon in Chattanooga, authorities said.

The accident took place in the Brainerd area of Chattanooga, and the area is closed to traffic.

According to police, the bus driver is being questioned and is cooperating with authorities.

In a news conference Monday, Assistant Chief Tracy Arnold said there were 35 schoolchildren on the bus, and the ages of the students ranged from kindergarten through fifth grade. The students were from Woodmore Elementary School.
