Cash as a fire hazard paid off for Jacksonville, Florida firefighters. Lynch’s Irish Pub was told by fire marshals that thousands of dollar bills being used as wallpaper had to come down from the walls and ceiling. Instead of getting mad, the bar’s owner put the money to good use.

WJAX-TV:

GM Keith Doherty says the pub wanted to make a difference.

“That’s the happy ending, that’s the plus side of it,” Doherty said.

Lynch’s is donating the more than $12,000 taken off their walls to the Jacksonville Association of Firefighters Charities.

Action News Jax spoke with the Firefighters Association. Officials with the organization say they are grateful, and the money will help the Muscular Dystrophy Association and local firefighters needing financial help.
