KYW-TV:

The hometown fire company in Schuylkill County is holding a “naughty bingo night.” The event is for adults only.

And if you win, adult toys will be given out instead of cash.

The fire company raised several thousand dollars with its first “naughty bingo night” last year, even drawing in people from out of state.

The first event last year drew a standing-room crowd of people from several surrounding counties and even New Jersey. Hometown is a tiny village in Rush Township, about 70 miles northeast of Harrisburg.

The next naughty bingo night is March 11. The fire company is selling 160 tickets at $20 each.

Firefighter Jason Messerschmidt says people tire of the same old fundraisers, which typically rely on the same people to spend money.

WNEP-TV:

He calls naughty bingo a way of getting creative with the struggle to raise money.

“You are constantly doing the same fundraisers over and over again and you are taxing the same people that come and support those fundraisers over and over again and we are trying to reach out to a larger group of folks,” said Messerschmidt.

He admits the fire company was concerned about the reaction it would get, but so far, it’s been positive.
