Helmet-cam video from Oakland Fire Local 55 taken during an apartment fire yesterday (Thursday) with a report of people trapped. Here’s the description with the video:

This morning, just after 5am, Oakland Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Pearl Street. Upon arrival, crews found a working fire with people trapped. Engine 1, Engine, 15, Engine 10, Truck 4 and Battalion 2 were initially dispatched. Command requested an additional engine and truck when rescues were confirmed. E5 and Truck 1 responded as the additional units.

Rick Hurd & Harry Harris, East Bay Times:

Firefighters controlled a one-alarm fire at an apartment complex early Thursday that was started by a burning candle, officials said.

The candle wasn’t because of a power outage, but for decorative purposes, officials said.

The woman living in the upstairs apartment where the fire started escaped on her own, officials said.

Firefighters had to rescue a man and a woman in an adjacent apartment.
