Matt Fondacaro, The Jersey Journal:

Two emergency medical technicians needed an ambulance for themselves after their vehicle was struck and flipped on its side while they were responding to a call early this morning, officials said.

The two EMTs were in a West New York ambulance traveling south on Bergenline Avenue at 2:50 a.m. assisting on a Union City call when it was sideswiped by an SUV going east on 30th Street. Video from nearby stores show that the ambulance had its sirens on at the time of the accident.

The two EMTs and the 40-year-old Hoboken woman who was driving the Dodge Durango were taken to the Jersey City Medical Center with “nonlife-threatening” injuries, Union City Police Chief Richard Molinari said.
