Inside job: Volunteer firefighter arrested for extensive vandalism at New York firehouse

After a lengthy investigation by the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Amity, Damean M. Kessler age 21 of 3048 SR 305 Cuba, NY, was arrested on charges of Criminal Mischief in the 2nd Degree (Class D Felony) and Tampering with Physical Evidence (Class E Felony). Kessler entered the Clarksville Fire Company on 12/21/14 where he is a Volunteer Fireman and did cause damage to the facility and equipment in excess of $30,000. Kessler was processed and arraigned in Town of Clarksville Court in front Justice Dennis and was remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. The NYSP BCI was assisted in the investigation by Allegany County District Attorney Keith Slep and the NYSP Amity Uniform Patrols.

New York State Troopers arrested 21-year-old Damean M. Kessler and charged him with second degree criminal mischief and tampering with physical evidence — two felonies — for alleged vandalism against his own fire company.

Police say Kessler caused at least $30,000 in damage to the the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Company.

Police arrested Kessler after a “lengthy” investigation and are holding him on $25,000 bail in the Allegany County Jail.
