The short audio from Matt Miles above is from a two-alarm house fire Saturday morning around 11:00 in the 600 block of Chestnut Hill Road in York Township, Pennsylvania (York County). The audio needs no description.

The fire happened during the Firefighters Association of York County convention and broke out a two hours before the scheduled start of the parade. Click here for the parade video.

Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire along Springwood Road near Chestnut Hill Road that took firefighters an hour to get under control, according to Chief Brian Bastinelli with Goodwill Fire Company in York Township.

Crews responded about 11 a.m. to the fire reported by nearby residents, Bastinelli said.

The home, which is vacant and was set to be demolished, was about 40 percent involved in flames, he added.

The fire happened about two hours before a parade, part of the 101st annual Firefighters Association of York County convention, stepped off in Red Lion.

Goodwill and Leo Fire Co. in Red Lion were jointly hosting the yearly gathering, but because of the blaze none of Goodwill’s front line trucks took part in the parade, Bastinelli said.

“Most of the people at the fire was supposed to be at the parade,” he said.

It also meant that a number of fire departments that don’t normally fight fires in York Township were indeed fighting a fire there Saturday.

For example, firefighters from Liverpool (Perry County) and Maryland were manning Leo’s station when the call came in, and they were dispatched to the scene, Bastinelli said.
