Initial report of a FDNY firefighter critically injured after a multi-story fall during a two-alarm fire this (Thursday) afternoon on Putnam Avenue in Queens.

A firefighter battling a blaze in Queens was seriously injured Thursday when he fell off the roof of a five-story apartment building, officials and sources said
The fire started on the second floor of a five-story building on Putnam Ave. in Ridgewood around 2:30 p.m.
He was rushed to Wyckoff Hospital and is said to be in serious condition, the FDNY said.
Witnesses said the firefighter fell from a ladder while fighting the flames.
The firefighter was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Bushwick, Brooklyn.
Mayor de Blasio and fire officials were headed to the hospital late Thursday afternoon.
