Town police early Saturday evening were still were in the process of identifying the next of kin, but said two boys, ages 3 and 7, were found in a first-floor bedroom. The body of a 21-year-old woman was found in the cellar, uncovered after a bulldozer cleared wreckage blocking the basement entrance from a collapsed portion of the structure, fire officials said.

Of the six who were sent to the hospital, five of them were residents and the sixth was a friend of a neighbor who saved an infant from the burning home, according to fire officials and witnesses. The extent of their injuries could not immediately be learned.

At approximately 10:54 a.m., Fire Officials were dispatched to a fire near the intersection of Dixon Rd., and Irving Rd. in New Hartford.
Upon arrival, they discovered that the heavily damaged residence had trapped victims inside during the blaze as fire crews were working frantically to free the victims.
