Early video from Troyus Maximus of a house fire yesterday (Thursday) evening in Grand Rapids, Michigan that took the life of a two-year-old girl. Other relatives escaped the fire. The person shooting the video says he was assaulted by the uncle of the girl who was upset that video was being taken of the fire. You see the attack at the end of the video.

WOOD-TV:

The fire broke out around 7:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Dale Street NE, west of Plainfield Avenue.

Grand Rapids Fire Department Chief John Lehman said the girl was in a bedroom at the back of the house. Family members and firefighters knew she was there, but couldn’t get through the flames to rescue her.

Neighbor Terry O’Barr told 24 Hour News 8 he came outside to the sound of the girl’s mother screaming. He tried to get into the house to save the girl, but there was too much smoke and fire.

“I ran in, went as far as I can, it was a little choky with the smoke, I barely made it out myself,” he said. “I’d looked around and I couldn’t see nothing. The heat, too; the heat was starting to build up. You could hear the plastic pop and other things pop.”
