Kentland Scheduled to Issue Statement

9News Now reporter Gary Reals tells me that he has been told that representatives of the Kentland Volunteer Fire Department will issue a statement at 4:00 p.m. They will be reacting to Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Chief Lawrence Sedgwick’s decision to remove Kentland’s chief from the chain of command.

Sedgwick has now given Kentland’s deputy chief a week to comply with his order requiring Company 33 to begin providing ambulance service.

On thewatchdesk.com there has been strong reaction to yesterday’s entry previewing this showdown. Many volunteers feel the confrontation is a move by Larry Sedgwick to force out volunteer participation in Prince George’s County. Others believe, that because Kentland has the second highest number of EMS calls in the county, it should have an ambulance.

By the way, if you are easily offended, the language, at times, on thewatchdesk.com might not be for you. It is something you might hear in a firehouse, for example.

Gary Reals will be reporting on the Kentland ambulance issue on 9News Now at 6:00 p.m.
