Former D.C. Fire Sergeant Arrested for Indecent Exposure

Former D.C. Fire and EMS sergeant Darryl Green turned himself in Saturday to police on indecent exposure charges. Claims by Green have helped fuel an investigation into a possible sex ring involving other department employees.

A civilian EMS worker told officials that Green exposed himself in July at the quarters of Engine 8 in Southeast Washington. Green was off-duty at the time and the woman was on-duty. Within a week Green resigned from D.C. Fire and EMS.

Sources tell STATter 911 that city officials had hoped to announce the arrest earlier in the week, but that investigators were still working with the U.S. Attorney’s office and the D.C. Attorney General’s office.

The larger investigation into the sex ring is continuing. According to sources familiar with the investigation, but not authorized to speak publicly about the probe, investigators have received information about two female members of the department who were providing woman as sexually oriented entertainment for private functions. Those functions, according to the sources, included bachelor parties, birthday parties and poker parties. The parties were held at hotels and suburban fire halls.

The investigators are also trying to determine if any of the activity occurred inside D.C. firehouses.

Officially, D.C. Police Department spokesperson Traci Hughes says she could not confirm whether Green’s arrest was connected to the recent allegations of sexual misconduct at the fire department.

In a statement, Mayor Adrian Fenty says the arrest was a result of fast work by a new internal affairs task force. The task force was set up after the recent complaints surfaced.
