Minneapolis collapse captured on camera.

Here is the link to what CNN is calling exclusive video of the actual collapse of the I-35 bridge over the Mississippi River. In the video you see the center section of the bridge go straight down. There is a delay before a section close to shore then collapses. A woman on a cell phone, who one would guess is calling 911, paces back and forth in front of the camera as she apparently is describing what happens.
With the search resuming, StarTribune.com, which earlier reported 9 dead, now has the total at 4 in its update at 8:08 a.m. local time. At a morning press conference, officials said the medical examiner’s office only had 4 sets of remains. That number is expected to rise through the day with reports of 20 to 30 people missing. The site reports the number of injured is now at 79.

Lorton fire report found problems with search and coordination.

We have published the findings from the report looking at the May 23rd fire that killed Debra Chiles. We expect to hear from Fairfax County officials later today.

In Virginia they are hoping to get the right to bargain. In D.C. they aren’t bargaining.

It appears the Fenty administration isn’t quite ready to sit down with the firefighters union and the EMS union. One big issue will be disciplinary procedures. At the same time, those in public safety in Virginia could soon have the right to bargain.

In their effort to get a new building, one volunteer company cites safety flaws with the current set-up.
