Periscope video & radio traffic from Kevin Warn: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
A fire early this (Thursday) morning destroyed a ladder truck and Orange County Fire Authority Station 61 in Buena Park near Knotts Berry Farm. No firefighters were hurt.
The blaze broke out at 3:40 a.m. at the station located at 8081 Western Ave., said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.
All the firefighters inside the station, which houses eight firefighters and one battalion chief, evacuated safely. Som members of that crew were out on a call the time the fire broke out, Kurtz said.
Sixty-four firefighters were on the scene getting a handle on the blaze, Kurtz said. But the fire destroyed a 100-foot aerial truck, he said.
