DC Fire & EMS Department sounded three alarms for a house fire in the 5800 block of Colorado Avenue, Northwest this (Wednesday) morning. During the fire there was a mayday. News coverage indicates the mayday occurred and was quickly cleared.
D.C. Fire tweeted there was a “mayday” call made during the fire for a firefighter that was in distress that is accounted for and safe.
Initial searches found no one was inside the house. One firefighter was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not serious.
The fire started sometime after 6 a.m. at the two-story house.
