WTTG-TV/FOX 5 reports a DC firefighter is on administrative leave and under investigation for his recent Facebook comment about a Virginia firefighter who committed suicide a year ago. The TV station says that Chris Sullivan’s comment about Fairfax County Fire & Rescue Department Firefighter Nicole Mittendorff was posted on the closed Facebook group “Hit’n It Hard From The Yard-Firefighter Training” (HIHFTY).

In its 5:00 p.m. news today (Friday) the TV station described Sullivan as making a “vile comment” about Mittendorff committing suicide because she was promiscuous and not because she was bullied. Virginia State Police had previously said there was no known connection between the suicide and derogatory comments made about Mittendorff on the website Fairfax Underground.

Here’s the comment about Mittendorff from HIHFTY:

The TV station pointed that HIHFTY regularly mocks firefighters and refers to women with derogatory terms such as “slam pig.”

The report shared this statement from the DC Fire & EMS Department in response to Firefighter Sullivan’s comments about Firefighter Mittendorff:
