Firefighters, police, EMS and citizens have been involved in rescuing many, many people in the Houston area. As you can imagine, many of the rescuers are likely dealing with major damage and other issues at their own homes from the historic amount of rain dropped by Harvey. On this page are a few scenes from in and around Houston.
As for the structure fires, we are told some in Houston have been handled by firefighters connecting 2 1/2 inch lines directly to hydrants and wading out to the burning buildings.
