UPDATE:  A firefighter has written the following comment – “If you’ll actually watch the video on something bigger than a phone, he reaches in and attempts the rescue when either the victim pulls or his regulator and mask get ripped off his face….. what the video doesn’t show is he had already been inside and rescued 2 of the 3 victims that were trapped…. so no… he wasn’t gearing up at the window. And before anyone says anything, I know because I was there.”

Video above from an apartment fire today in Mobile, Alabama where neighbor Quinn Parrish bypasses a firefighter to pull a woman through a ground floor window to safety. There’s an interview with Mr. Parrish below.

Tanner Gilliland & Lance Crawford, WPMI-TV:

Quinn said he was so quick to reach because he has been in a similar situation before.

“Because I’ve been in a situation like this before over in Seabreeze. It was a little girl, it was a little girl. A little girl had died inside her apartment, and we did all we could to try to get her up out of there. All the smoke and stuff had killed us, and just, so any time I see a fire like that and I’m able to help, I jump right on it,” Quinn said.

A firefighter was outside the window preparing to help, but MFRD said the woman was in shock and “couldn’t cooperate.” The firefighter was gearing up with a mask, gloves and regulator to go in the building to rescue her when the bystander rushed to assist.
