Early video from Daniel Wayman taken at a two-alarm fire today (Wednesday) on South Main Street in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Salt Lake City Fire Department press release:

At 12:12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, the Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a two-alarm structure fire at 1497 S. Main St.

First-arriving crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. A second-alarm was quickly called to make sure appropriate resources responded to the incident to protect nearby structures.

The building’s roof collapsed during the fire. No firefighters were inside at the time of the roof collapse, as crews fought the fire from the outside.

The vacant building is a total loss following the fire.

Several homes and businesses to the southeast of the building were evacuated. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Despite an initial report from a bystander to firefighters of a possible meth lab inside the building, investigators have no credible information of a meth lab being present inside the building at the time of the fire.

Fire crews are battling a blaze in downtown #SaltLakeCity.Authorities have evacuated nearby homes and businesses as they fight the flames.
