The Bradley-Prosperity VFD confirms that they were operating a bingo game when fire broke out in a mobile home on North Sand Branch Road Sunday afternoon but they say that wasn’t the reason firefighters failed to respond on the call. The department is about three miles from the scene of the fire. The video is from ItsDLC who also makes note of the failed response and the bingo game.

Kelsey Borza, a reporter with WVNS-TV has the explanation from the department:

No one was injured in the fire, but neighbors said they were upset when Bradley Volunteer Fire Department did not show up because they were playing bingo.

Bradley Public Information Officer Bobby Palmer said they were playing bingo but the reason they didn’t respond is because they did not have enough trained, certified fighters available.

He said the department does have certain firefighters who are on standby but they didn’t have enough Sunday to properly respond.
