Officials expect to release a nearly 300-pound bear that climbed a tree after it was hit by a car in New Jersey.
The 3-year-old bruin rested 20-feet above the ground in Raritan for about nine hours before officials were able to tranquilize the animal Thursday.
Firefighters removed the bear using a bucket truck.
State biologist Kelcey Burgess told The Home News Tribune of East Brunswick the bear is expected to be released onto state-owned land in Hunterdon County.
