Veteran Broadcast House engineer Tom Buckley had his camera handy when fire broke out in his DC neighborhood around 9:30 Monday morning. The fire started in a car parked in the the garage of a house in the 500 block of Peabody Street, NW.
According to the DC Fire & EMS Department, the fire extended to the staircase leading to the basement. The staircase collapsed when a firefighter tried to use it. That firefighter was not seriously hurt.
It took firefighters 10-15 minutes to contain the fire. There was significant damage to the home.
